World Series Final Game Attracts 51M Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a aggregate 51 million watchers across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB reported this is the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game averaged over 27 million audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game recorded 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English-language program in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match World Series recorded 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total American average reached 16.1M. The total World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09 million viewers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason performance after 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 different languages.
